Ray joined Windy City Curling in 2018 when he joined a rookie league with his brother and sister-in-law. Like many curlers, his first exposure to the sport was by watching it during the Olympics. In addition to curling, Ray is a Chicago Cubs season ticket holder and enjoys bowling and golfing in his spare time.
Favorite Bonspiel: TCCA The Big Spiel: January 2020 with Mike Lerner, Kerry Myers and Jim Sikma.
Aaron started curling in 2009 when he joined his high school‘s curling team on a whim. Although his coaches didn’t know much about the sport, Aaron eventually figured out how to throw a rock, but draw weight remains a mystery! He is excited to work with the fantastic people on the board, help grow the sport of curling, and spend even more time thinking about curling. Aaron has been a member of Windy City since May 2019.
Favorite bonspiel: 2020 Waltham Mixed with Barry Hutchings, Luiza Hutchings, Rebecca Tulloch
Tom Arra joined Windy City Curling in December 2016 after doing a Learn to Curl. Like many others in the club, he learned about the sport by watching it on TV during the Olympics and was hooked right away. Tom was one of the players on the Men’s USCA Arena Nationals team for Windy City Curling in 2019. When not on the ice, Tom works in the Software Engineering field where he is a Senior Product Manager. His other hobbies include just about anything that has to do with technology. To get away from the computer, Tom trains and runs in Triathlons.
Favorite Bonspiel: Chicago Mixed (Nov 2018) with Beth DeGreeter, Kerry Myers, and Mike Lerner
Eric Reithel has been a proud member of Windy City Curling since its second week of play, back when the club still curled at Rocket Ice Arena in 2014. Having previously been a blogger, instructor, league coordinator, and even a (short-lived) board member for WCC, he‘s happy to return to a leadership position in the club. One of Eric’s favorite curling memories was representing (and offering Streamline™ commentary for) WCC at Arena Nationals in 2019, the last year our club was eligible. His favorite bonspiel to attend annually is the LGBTQ-based bonspiel, "Do It on the Ice," held in Toronto, Canada.
Jon grew up watching curling on TV as a kid, but never played until 2015, when his wife bought him a Learn-To-Curl as a Christmas present. This rekindled his love for the sport, and he joined Windy City Curling’s next league. When he’s not curling, Jon is the Director of Finance at Circle K’s Heartland Divisional office in Lisle, IL. He loves spending time with his family. His wife, Tonya - also a member of WC3 - his daughter, Courtney, who he coached in softball for 8 years, and his son, Max, who you will see on the ice at times, as well.
Favorite bonspiel: Cedar Rapids Curling Club Cedarspiel 2017 with Tonya, Zac Wiles, and Anthony D’Arco.
Barry started curling 3 1/2 years ago when a learn to curl with Anthony and Christina D’Arco a week before Christmas. After the learn to curl was completed they asked if we wanted to join the league that started in 2 weeks and we said yes. Greg Torkleson and Anthony were our Skip and Vice and we won the Cub Championship, WOW this curling thing is easy, NOT! I just love the people, the new friendships and the camaraderie of WCCC.
Favorite Bonspiel: Wauwautosa Mens Spiel...Gotta love the Boat Races...I JUST ABOUT WON!!
Anne started her curling obsession in February of 2019 at a learn to curl at Seven Bridges. After completing a rookie league and a summer league she became a full member of the club. She can be easily found at the club, donning a Malort sweater, rocking a unicorn onesie, or applying temporary tattoos. Her passion for the sport is almost matched by her love of the ridiculous.
Favorite Bonspiel: O Canada Spiel (September 2019) with Jim Schneider and Donna Wood.
